ICC Belgium - Inclusion Creates Chances

ICC Belgium empowers young visually impaired people, creating chances for a more included, connected and independent future. To achieve this, we organise workshops on essential life skills in a friendly atmosphere with an international touch.
How do you use your computer or smartphone with a screen reader? Which skills are important to jump into a new adventure, like higher education, a professional career or an exchange experience? And what about living on your own and doing fun things in your spare time? Everything is possible when you are blind or partially sighted. We make innovative solutions accessible for all by learning from each other.
Come see it for yourself!
Our Mission and Vision

ICC Belgium is a non-profit organisation that wants to create chances in our society for blind and partially sighted people. We strive for inclusion, in our own organisation as well as in the society. We want to create chances for participation in higher education and on the labour market as well as for a social and independent life. To achieve this, we focus on the development of knowledge and skills for visually impaired people. Besides that, we try to raise public awareness about the impact of having a visual impairment.
Our vision is to create a world were a “visual” disability is a mere difference in processing life. The three pillars to achieve this vision are the following:
- Building an effective centre of excellence;
- Organising awareness raising activities;
- Influencing policies on inclusion of persons with a disability.
On medio-term, we want to open a centre of excellence. This centre will provide advanced workshops and innovative tools. It will create the possibility to connect different communities.
ICC Belgium is different in many ways. First of all, we rely on a strong and already developed and mature International network that connects participants and other partners. Secondly, we focus on innovative solutions and technology. Lastly, we want Blind and partially sighted to be in the driving seat of our projects.
Our Team

Driving our organisation is an inclusive team of young and dynamic enthusiasts working voluntarily and having our mission running through their veins. The board of ICC Belgium currently has 6 members. The main task of the board is to manage the day-to-day follow up of our projects. Each board member is responsible for a specific stream: events, expertise centre, communication, HR and finance. Every stream has a team ready to help. Besides that, there are also project-specific teams for bigger events or other promising projects. The general assembly has around 15 members and meets every 3 months to discuss new ideas and evaluate passed projects.
Besides that, we can rely on a lot of excellent volunteers. They assist us for example with organising events and guiding our visually impaired participants. If you want to become a volunteer yourself, then go to this page.
